How Translate.com Works
The site offers instant MT across 90+ languages for text and documents, then upsells human translation services ordered per word: machine translation post-editing (MTPE) at the low end, professional and certified translation (legal, medical) at the high end. An API exposes the MT engine for developers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Translate.com free?
The machine translation is free for text and documents on the site. Human translation (MTPE, professional, certified) is paid per word or per document.
Does Translate.com offer certified translation?
Yes — certified and notarized translations for official use (immigration, legal, academic) are among its service tiers, with per-document pricing and acceptance guarantees.
What MT engine does Translate.com use?
It operates licensed third-party engines behind its interface rather than an in-house model. For API workloads, evaluate dedicated engines directly.
Verdict
Translate.com is a convenient bridge: free MT for casual needs and a straightforward order desk when humans are required — the certified-translation tier is genuinely useful for official documents. As an MT engine it is unremarkable (third-party under the hood); its value is the service wrapper, not the technology.
